Today we are pleased to bring you an interview from another great artist from the upcoming Assassin Series, here is the 13th installment of the CTU's interview series...

Presenting the CTU's Dirty Dozen featuring: Patrick Francisco

1. What name do you go by and why?

Just my birth name: Patrick Francisco.

2. Why did you get into custom toy making?

I thought it was a cool challenge to work within the confines of a certain figure. I’m just blown away by what other artists do with them and I wanted to see what I could do also.

3. What influences / motivates your work the most?

Usually other media inspires me to create work in my own media. Anything from books, movies, or music, get me to the easel.

4. What is your favorite platform to work with?

I usually prefer a platform without much detail, leaving me to figure how to populate it with my own creation. I just took part in Sketchbot’s show and the large flat surfaced body is prime for customization.

5. What tools of the trade do you use?

For the most part, just oil paint, but occasionally I’ll try my hand at sculpey and other things.

6. Do you have any formal arts training?

I have a BFA in Illustration from SUNY FIT.

7.What other artistic mediums do you dabble in?

As I said above, I also work with sculpey though it’s brand new to me. I’ve fooled around with resin as well, but the costs of materials limit that from being a regular routine.

8. Who are your favorite artists?

Can I say Santa Monica Studios? I’ve just finished God of War III and the visual presentation is incredible. Everything from the concepts to modeling to everything else is top notch.

9.Who or what pieces do you collect?

I’m lucky to have original pieces by Jay222, Betso, Osiris Orion, and Monster Decay.

10. What piece are you most proud of?

I painted Chuck Liddell on a vinyl toy a while ago and it remains one of my favorite pieces. Chuck has a distinct look and it was easy to translate into the figure.

11.Do you have any shows or exhibitions in the works?

Angelo Sison just asked me to be part of a show he is curating using Celsius as a platform. Also, Phoneticontrol is bringing his paper toy show to NY and I will have something there too.

12. Do you take commissions?

As long as I feel I can do the work, I will take it. I was recently asked to do wedding cake toppers and I had to pass it off to a friend whose style would have been a better fit. If you’re looking for cute, I probably can’t help.
