Maybe someone can explain the draw of coarse to me... i don't mind paws, they are kinda cool.... but the pain and jaws are just the worst pieces of vinyl i've ever seen... they really really bother me, to the point of rage ...it looks like some sad emo kid got kicked out of blink 182 and fell off his skateboard.... does anyone really want a sad looking mannequin in their house? and if they answer is yes, how come? i really wanna know why. they just seem so far off from any other vinyl out there, and it also seems very homo-erotic to me, on top of the fact that it's scary and hideous and just plain weird... and i LOVE weird stuff, but this is just too weird.

I keep seeing all these incredible artists making customs on them, and it's mind boggling to me. please someone help me understand. what else do coarse fans collect that would fit with them? and why does the jaws have a massive dick bulging in his pants??? that makes me want it EVEN LESS! it's just a glorified mannequin with an emo haircut and a six pack.... and it looks like he is about to cry. it's sad, depressing, and it's just bothersome to me on so many levels... if i had one displayed in my living room, i would feel awkward when anyone of my friends came over, with a large shirtless mannequin starring at them.... literally i would be embarrased...

i watch WWE sometimes because it's like a train wreck... it's so bad that i can't look away. Someone got me a john cena action figure, and i pose it and make it do strange things, but it's all a big joke. is that the deal with coarse? Is it so bad that it's good?

i really want to understand... i'm not making fun or anything...

Can't say I'm a fan of them, but I don't hate them. I do think the customs are much better than the originals though.

I'm a fan. I like Jaws and Paw. I'm hoping next year they make Nism and Locks. I can do without the nudie noop though. There's a lot of vinyl figures I don't like and don't understand the follow for. There's so much out there you're bound to find something you dislike. I agree with you that there are many artists out there that make them look better than the originals. I've seen a few by F5, the work in progress by Chauskosis(sorry if mispelled), and a bunch of others. Different strokes for different folks yo.

thanks for commenting guys...

edstuff... i'm glad you like them! i'm curious what its it that appeals to you about the jaws and stuff like that? the style? the colors? i'm not poking fun or anything, so don't take it the wrong way :)

i equate it to me hating the movie "nightmare before christmas"... everything about that movie i should like.... it's dark and weird, claymation is cool, danny elfman is awesome, i like most tim burton stuff, and everyone i know loves it... but i couldn't understand why they liked it so much...i saw it and it was the worst thing i'd ever seen, but still i try and see it from my friends point of view, because i want to understand.

and if my original post was harsh, it was nothing against coarse collectors. i was just being honest and stating how i felt personally...

I didn't take offense. No worries. I can't really explain fully why I like them but then again I'm not really that good at expressing myself. I'm a new fan to Coarse but in no means a die hard fan. I see something and either I like it or I don't. I guess if I have to break it down I find it visually appealing. Plus I love sharks so that has to be a big part of it.

Oh yeah I hate you for that too. :D

Btw I don't see Jaws having a bulge in his pants. I see it like he's wearing a pair of Dickies shorts. But when I was in high school I wore a lot of Dickies pants so maybe thats why I see it that way.

I have been a little curious about what the big hype is with coarse as well; but I am going to take a stab here...

1-Packaging is very impressive on these toys. These guys seem to go over the top with the box style even down to the foam padding on the inside.

2- The technical detail is very impressive with strong clean lines, translating a lot of detail while looking very simple.

3- Enough stock sculpted detail to be interesting to some as themselves yet simple enough to allow customs.

That all being said, I don't think the asking price is worth buying these toys; at least for me. These toys end up being very costly mostly for the above reasons and all I see is a boyish barbie doll for jaws and couldn't see myself paying for this piece when there are many others that I like a lot for for much less.
The Paws on the other hand is probably the nicest coarse IMHO, yet again just too costly for me to buy that one, but still leap and bounds better than jaws.

I only got interested in Coarse when I saw PAWS but this is due to my strange interest with rabbits. I'm still not overly keen on Jaws/Noop releases. Sometimes they remind me of Ken from Barbie..LOL

I couldn't sink money into a Jaws but for a PAWS I would easily do it. I still love looking at my PAWS Pain version..Just something about it sticks out from my other toys..I think it's the way it is sculpted, the way it holds itself, it is looming looking dangerous that sparks an appeal to me.

Another thing that interested me with coarse is the packaging..I looove seeing different packaging from my design background plus natural interest.

I'm not a fan of a lot of the hot stuff right now. Coarse, 3A, Esc, just don't feel them. Don't hate them, but they're just not for me.

Hypnotiq bleeds 3A. I'm not as big a fan as I used to be. Don't think I'll be making any more 3A purchases.

I agree w/ Ardabus here, not feeling the jaws and the like but I do really like Paws and would like to have a few but with the steep as hell pricing it is not possible for me or many others to own one.

I also am not a 3A fan!!! :beatdeadhorse:

The Coarse stuff does not do it for me either. I think that the problem might be that it is very derivative. So much vinyl has been inspired by or has direct roots to graffiti that all of that type of design, even if it is perfectly executed, comes across to me as something I have seen a zillion times already (and I am new to toys) or just uninspired.
I also feel the same way about retro and nostalgia style. Between the baggy shorts and Jaws Coarse combines what everyone has seen a whole lot of not just in toys but in music, fashion, and film as well over the past many years.
