Well I had the opportunity to interview a great artist today, so here is the first installment of the CTU's interview series.

Presenting the CTU's Dirty Dozen featuring: Frank Mysterio

1. What name do you go by and why?
OK, my art name is frankmysterio which is a name I made for my mask that I got from a master wrestler.

2. Why did you get into custom toy making?

At a stage of my work I wanted to paint all type of things, used toys, art toys, skate decks and I'm pleased with how the idea turned out.

3. What influences / motivates your work the most?
Lucha Libre, 3 years working for wrestling magazines.

4. What is your favorite platform to work with?
I like the Toyer Qee and Kaiju rxh, I have tattoos of both:

5. What tools of the trade do you use?

I use a lot of acrylic and lately been working with an air brush.

6. Do you have any formal arts training?
I studied design at two schools, at one it was painting techniques and the other was computer arts and graphic design for about 4 or 5 years.

7.What other artistic mediums do you dabble in?
Aside from customs of art toys I also do street art with stickers, graffiti and I like to paint canvases. My formal work is in graphic design.

8. Who are your favorite artists?
Paul kaiju, Lamour Supreme, Usugrow, Touma, Madl and more...

9.Who or what pieces do you collect?
I like vintage toys and my favorites are big Shogun Warrior toys.

10. What piece of work are you most proud of?
My Qee Bunny Manso Negras

11.Do you have any shows or exhibitions in the works?
I have participated in several exhibitions in Mexico, the United States and Europe, and my work is exhibited a lot online. I and have created my own toy with Walter Jacott (Chauskoskis) it is a DIY piece called karuzo and it will be coming out soon.

12. Do you take commissions?
If given the opportunity.

Wow...that Karuzo has been a long time coming. I saw production pics for that on vinyl toy freaks last year. Awesome Toyer tattoo. I love it when someone is in our facebook friends list and I have no idea who they are...now I do! Great! Fantastic customs.
